Allegany Region Missions Statement of Faith

The Bible

We believe the Bible, all 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is divinely inspired, the only infallible, authoritative written Word of God, trustworthy in all it affirms and through which our Lord speaks in living power revealing His will for our salvation and for Christian faith and life. (II Timothy 3:16-17, II Samuel 22:31)

The Trinity

We believe there is only one true, holy God, eternally existent in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 4:4-6, II Corinthians 3:17, John 1:1-18)

God the Father

We believe in God the Father, creator of all things, who is holy, omnipotent and all knowing; loving, merciful and faithful, desiring all to come to Him. (Genesis 1:1, Revelation 1:8, Matthew 10:29, John 3:16, I Peter 1:3-5, I Corinthians 1:8-9)

The Lord Jesus Christ

We believe in the full deity and full humanity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, death on the cross as our substitute, His bodily resurrection and ascension into heaven, present ministry of intercession for us, and His imminent return to earth in power and glory. (Colossians 2:9, Luke 1:35, I Corinthians 15:3-4, I John 2:1-2)

Salvation

We believe that man was created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him, but fell into sin and is lost, separated from God; therefore, every man is in need of regeneration by the Holy Spirit, through repentance, being born again into a personal faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is wholly a work of God’s free grace through the atoning death of Jesus on the cross and cannot be earned by our actions or goodness or revoked by our failures. (Genesis 1:27, Romans 5:12, Romans 5:10, John 3:3, John 3:16-17, I John 1:9, Ephesians 2:8-9, Ephesians 1:13-14, II Corinthians 1:21-22, I John 5:13)

Holy Spirit

We believe in the deity and person of the Holy Spirit whose ministry is to glorify Christ and during this age to convict sinners, regenerate the believer, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for Christlike living and service, interceding on our behalf and sealing us until the day of redemption. (John 14:16-20, John 16:7-14, Titus 3:5-7, Romans 8:26-27, Ephesians 4:30)

The Resurrection

We believe in the visible, personal and imminent return of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of all mankind; of the believer to everlasting glory and communion with the Lord; of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting punishment. (I Thessalonians 5:2, I Thessalonians 4:14-17, II Corinthians 5:10, II Thessalonians 1:7-9, John 3:18, John 3:36, Matthew 13:36-43)

Spiritual Unity

We believe there is one true Church universal, united by faith and comprised of all those who acknowledge Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord; as members of one family we strive to answer His command to love one another in celebration of God’s grace and to bear witness to the truth of the Gospel. (Romans 15:5-7, I Corinthians 12:13, Ephesians 4:1-3, I John 4:7-21, Ephesians 5:1-2)

The Great Commission

We believe the Lord Jesus Christ commands all believers to take the Gospel to the lost and needy through word and deed. With our Lord’s imminent return, there is, therefore, an urgency about the way we go about our work. (Matthew 28:19-20, I John 1:3, Acts 1:8, I John 3:17-18, Matthew 25:40, Matthew 24:36-44)

Sanctity of Life

We believe in the sanctity of human life and in God’s intimate care and knowledge of every man, woman and child. We believe human life begins at the moment of conception and oppose all manners of abortion and euthanasia. In all our activities, every person is treated with care and compassion regardless of race, age, sex, religion, marital status, national origin, color, creed, or handicap. (Psalm 139:13-16, Jeremiah 1:5, Luke 1:44, Luke 6:31,36)
